Chicago Entrepreneur and Championship Team Owner Jarmichael Williams Brings Professional Basketball to the Windy City
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Basketball League (TBL) is excited to announce the addition of Chicago, Illinois, as a new market for the 2027 season with the launch of the Windy City Kings.
The Windy City Kings will be owned and operated by Chicago-area entrepreneur Jarmichael Williams, an experienced basketball executive who brings a proven track record of leadership and success to TBL.
Williams’ basketball background includes ownership of the Chicago Fury, a team that recently captured back-to-back national championships. He now brings that experience, championship mentality, and commitment to community to The Basketball League.
“I am personally thrilled to be a Team Market Owner of a TBL team. I have been in the space and market for a long time and believe that bringing this level of entertainment and competitive basketball to our area of the city will have a lasting impact in our community.”
— Jarmichael Williams, Team Market Owner, Windy City Kings
The addition of the Windy City Kings strengthens TBL’s presence throughout the Midwest. Chicago will join a regional conference featuring teams across Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Illinois, creating exciting geographic rivalries and giving basketball fans throughout the region even more opportunities to experience professional basketball.
For TBL CEO Evelyn Magley, Williams’ experience and his understanding of the league’s community-focused mission make the Windy City Kings an especially exciting addition.
“Jarmichael is an experienced operator with a clear vision of what makes TBL unique. Most importantly, he fully understands that becoming a community asset is one of the most vital responsibilities of owning a TBL team. We are excited to welcome Jarmichael, the Windy City Kings organization and the Chicago community to the TBL family.”
— Evelyn Magley, CEO, The Basketball League
A NEW KINGDOM RISES IN CHICAGO
The Windy City Kings will take the court as TBL enters its ninth season, joining a professional basketball league with 30+ teams across the United States and Canada.
The Kings will bring high-level professional basketball, affordable family entertainment and community engagement to one of America’s great basketball cities. Beyond wins and losses, the organization intends to build meaningful relationships throughout the Chicago community and create opportunities for players, families, businesses and young people.
That mission reflects the foundation of The Basketball League: using basketball to show love to community and developing teams that become true community assets.
The 2027 TBL regular season is scheduled to begin in late February, followed by approximately three months of regular-season competition. The postseason will lead into TBL Playoffs and the pursuit of a championship in June.
For Williams and the Windy City Kings, the opportunity represents more than the arrival of another basketball team.
It represents the beginning of a new chapter for professional basketball in Chicago.
The Windy City Kings are coming. Chicago, get ready.
