Indianapolis IN, Evelyn Magley CEO of The Basketball League announced the 19th new market since the pandemic hit and 31st overall, has been awarded to Salem OR, the Salem Capitals.
Salem is the state capital of Oregon. From the historic downtown area to the vineyard-covered Willamette Valley countryside, Salem, Oregon, provides a peaceful setting and a more relaxed atmosphere than you’d find in a larger city. The Salem Armory is the leading facility to host the Capitals as it’s convenient, has tradition and is in a great location.
“I’m excited to bring pro basketball to Salem. Having previously owned a team in San Diego, I can attest to the level of entertainment and community value that a TBL brings to a market. Salem will embrace the Capitals and be happy with their experience” – Paul DuBose TMO Salem Capitals
“After playing in the TBL in Yakima WA and seeing 1st hand just how much of an impact we can have in a community, I am excited to be on the ground floor with Salem and bring back community engagement through the platform of basketball. Being able to be behind the scenes and on the court will be a great opportunity. I am excited to get the ball rolling and get the Salem community involved” – Jason Conrad Business Development Manager Salem Capitals
Salem is 50 miles south of Portland. Geographically it fits perfect with the Portland Storm and the 5 California based teams.
“We are thrilled to have Paul and Jason working with us in the Salem market. Jason was our ‘Spirit of the Game Award’ and fully understands our vision for community engagement.” – Evelyn Magley CEO TBL
The Basketball League begins its 4th season March of 2021. The league plays a 24 game schedule (12 home and 12 away), with a playoff system that concludes with a champion in June.
