BSL and TBL CEO, the first African-American woman to head a men’s professional basketball league, hopes the honor will inspire others.

INDIANAPOLIS- Evelyn Magley, CEO of The Basketball League and The Basketball Super League, has been named one of the 2023 Hope25 by Hope Magazine. Every year, the lifestyle magazine selects 25 inspiring African-American women who are setting an example for others and inspiring them to live their lives to the fullest and in business, science, the arts, lifestyle, community and other fields.

“I’m honored and humbled to find myself among this group of incredible women,” says Evelyn Magley, adding: “I had a vision when I started The Basketball League: to lift people up. My hope is that my story and those of the 24 other women on this truly inspires African-American women and all those who love and support them.”

Other Hope 25 honorees include Dr. Terry Whitt Bailey, Jonn’l Boyd, MBA and Co-Owner of Boyd Cry Wines, Thresette Briggs, Author, Speaker, Trainer and Coach, and Dr. Lady Chappell, MOMPreneur.

The Hope 25 will be profiled in the August issue of Hope Magazine. Angelia Holmes, CEO of HOPE Magazine enthuses: “these women are reshaping the landscape. We are so pleased to be shining a spotlight on them.”

For Evelyn Magley, celebrating women leaders only makes sense. “I’ve said many times that 70 to 80 cents of every dollar will be re-invested in community if a woman is in charge of a company. The Hope 25 re-enforce the message that, if you’ve been held back because you’re a black woman, it can be done!”
