INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Basketball League (TBL) proudly recognizes former NBA guard and University of Central Florida (UCF) basketball standout Jermaine Taylor, whose impressive professional career brought valuable experience and leadership to the Kissimmee Lambs during the team’s inaugural TBL season.
A native of Tavares, Florida, Taylor established himself as one of the most accomplished scorers in UCF basketball history. During his collegiate career, he recorded 1,979 points, becoming the university’s all-time leading scorer in its NCAA Division I era. His outstanding senior season included averaging 26.2 points per game and earning Conference USA Player of the Year honors in 2009.
Taylor’s exceptional performance led to his selection as the 32nd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards before his rights were traded to the Houston Rockets. He subsequently played for both the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings, appearing in 65 NBA regular-season games.
His professional basketball journey also included experience in the NBA Development League, now known as the NBA G League, and international basketball.
Taylor later brought his wealth of professional experience to the Kissimmee Lambs, contributing to the team’s success during its first season in The Basketball League.
His participation reflects TBL’s ability to bring together emerging professional talent and accomplished veterans, creating an environment where athletes can compete, mentor younger players, and continue their passion for basketball.
Through players like Jermaine Taylor, The Basketball League continues to demonstrate that professional basketball is more than a game. It is a platform for opportunity, leadership, community engagement, and the lasting impact athletes can make both on and off the court.
